(Welcome to all "Black" People)
We are happy to see you here!

This site is dedicated to my late maternal grandmother Cora Thomas (ibara torun) , my son Sangowande Kodjo Fablavi, and my beautiful 3 year old daughter Mawusi Folami Agbosi (the carrier of the family name of the founder of this site), who represents a spiritual reality that can never be equalled ever again in my life. Ultimately, this site would not be possible and still here if it were not for the Iyaale, Oyajingin Origbenga Fadunmade, of the Damballa New Afrikan Vodun Ancestral Order for Her divine presence and support! It is the Iyaale who is the custodian of this site and in many ways the custodian of the Damballa New Afrikan Vodun Ancestral Order.

New Afrikan Vodun is the Vodun (spiritual way of life) of the descendants of the displaced Afrikans who were uprooted and transplanted to the shores of North America from their Mother Afrika, but based upon the ancient West Afrikan Vodun pradigm found mainly in what is now known as Daxome (Benin), Togo, Ghana, and Nigeria.  The exchange of cultural and spiritual ideas brought about the environment for a new way of expressing the Ancient practices brought over by these brave Ancestors of ours.  Therefore, in the spirit of the ancient Vodun (Orisa- Vodun), and following in the footsteps the founder of the New Afrikan Vodun philosophy (the Akoda Medahochi himself - ibara torun) New Afrikan Vodun is an expression and expansion of West Afrikan Vodun itself which speaks directly to the New Afrikan experience here in north amerikkka. New Afrikan Vodun is, in essence, a New Afrikan approach to Afrikan spirituality.  It is set to integrate the essence of several West Afrikan spiritual traditions back into a state of oneness that existed before the devastations of tribalism and internecine warfare that have almost smothered the light of the Elder Ancestors.

One important point to overstand is that the New Afrikan Vodun website and concepts as carried out by the current New Afrikan Vodun (We overstand that there are others who practice New Afrikan Vodun. However, all are not connected) family are based on a Nationalistic and Pan Afrikan perspective and approach in the same way as Afrikan spirituality was re-iontroduced to us by the late Oba Efuntola Adefunmi I (ibara torun) and other founders such as Nana Yao Dinizulu I (ibara torun) and Medahochi Kofi Omowale Zannu (ibara torun). What this means is that the New Afrikan Vodun approach is to bring the Afrikan traditions to Afrikans, by Afrikans, and for Afrikans (I have recently found out that I need to clarify this. This means New Afrikan Vodun is for Black people only!). We view the recent "universalism" that has been thrust upon our Afrikan traditions as another interpolated attempt to enslave the Afrikan mind. We believe, and know, that these Ancestral Afrikan traditions should be for Afrikans wherever they are in the Yepete (Twi/Akan for "diaspora") and not made open to other cultures who just as well can return to their own "traditions".

The Damballa New Afrikan Vodun Ancestral Order is now offering ACCESS various spiritual services including initiations, marriage ceremonies, funerary ceremonies, dzoto and root reading divination, head readings, lectures, and workshops. Most of the initiatic and ceremonial services will be done in conjunction with my spiritual elders and other priests when needed.

Many of you have asked about classes. If interested, please contact us at awo@newafrikanvodun.com. We welcome all nationalistic minded Afrikans ("Black" people only).

Possible Human Origins in West Afrika

New Genus, New Species Found in West Afrika

Michel Brunet of the University of Poitiers in France headed the international team of more than three dozen researchers. They found the fossils—an intact cranium, two lower jaw fragments, and several teeth—at a site in the Djurab Desert where the group has been excavating since the mid-1990s. The researchers compared the ancient skull and related fossils with the fossils of many other known hominids and primates. Based on characteristics such as the tooth type and the thickness of the enamel, the shape and positioning of the head, and the facial features, the team concluded....Read more>>
